On the recent leg of a marathon flight from Miami coming home from a shoot, I happened to be the last one on the plane. It’s a long story, but suffice it to say that I was using up my 300,000 Air Miles, so I had to wait until the flight was fully boarded before I could take my seat.  Being a make-up artist and a frequent flyer, I’m obviously fully prepared with a kit-bag packed with all my favourite travel and inflight beauty must-haves. Once installed in my seat, there I was applying my This Works In Transit No Traces Pads, £17, to cleanse my skin, followed by Elemis super-relaxing Quiet Mind Temple Balm, £17, when I noticed that the man sitting next to me was watching me closely, fascinated by my shiny skin and beauty ritual. Once he got a whiff of the balm, he leant over and asked if he might try some. And so I showed him how to apply it to his temples and along his collar and breast bones with gentle massage movements. He breathed in deeply – and was smitten (by the balm, not me!). This lead to his travel companion and his wife joining in the fun and within minutes, I was sharing my Temple Balm and travel tips with the entire First Class Cabin. It also lead to everyone in the cabin asking if this was part of the inflight bag, and if so, where was theirs!  I replied that it wasn’t – but that it should be – popped on my eye mask and drifted off to sleep. Coming soon: my inflight travel kit – what I take with me on shoots and holidays – and why.
