A British national, Ruby Hammer was born in Nigeria to Bangladeshi parents, moved to the UK when she was twelve and has lived in London for over 25 years. She graduated from City University, London, with a BA Hons in Economics. She speaks fluent Bengali, her mother tongue, Hausa (northern Nigerian dialect) and Hindi, as well as conversational French and German. She is happily married, and has one daughter.

One of Ruby’s major achievements was to be awarded an MBE by the Queen in 2007. The title recognised Ruby’s long standing contribution to the cosmetics industry.
