With a career in the beauty industry spanning 25 years, Ruby has become one of the best-known, loved and respected make up artists in the business. Strongly believing that make-up shouldn’t be a mask, she urges women to use make up to emphasise their best features and to embrace what’s unique about their face. Her philosophy is to celebrate the positive aspects, whilst playing down perceived flaws.
Her love of make-up started at an early age. Always passionate about make up , Ruby grew up watching her Mum do her own elaborate make up, and then began copying and adapting make up looks that she saw in magazines, changing the colours to suit her skin tone. She spent her earnings from a Saturday job buying make up and beauty products so that she could continue to practice and perfect her make up.
With no formal training in make up artistry, she started her career as an assistant to a make up artist backstage at London Fashion Week, and through this apprenticeship, she learned her craft on the job. Her work has appeared in the glossiest magazines (see below) and she has worked on location around the world, from Paris to Palm Springs, Miami to Mauritius, with many of the world’s most celebrated photographers, hairdressers, art directors, stylists and models.
