Dark SideEarlier this year, I wrote a post about the latest trend for white, both products and packaging. As it’s coming up to Halloween, that time of the year we we let our Gothic tendencies run riot, it’s time to explore our dark side. We’ve all got one! It’s purely a coincidence that some of the most gorgeous new products that I’m loving are either dressed in black packaging or happen to be a gorgeous inky shade. First up, Guerlain Kiss Kiss Shaping Cream Lip Colour in Red Hot. The glossy black tube is so grown-up and glamorous. Who wouldn’t want to pull this out of their handbag at Halloween, or any other time for that matter? If you’d rather have something with a matte finish and a more urban feel, Nars Audacious Lipstick is definitely uber-cool. While I’m on the subject of lipstick, I’ve just discovered Diego Della Palma’s Lipstick in Ego (100), £15.50. On first glance, this looks unwearable for everyday life – but perfect for Halloween – but it’s not what it seems! It’s a super-sheer balm-like lipstick that transforms the natural colour of you lips to a gorgeous just-bitten colour. Not scary at all. And it works on all skin tones and lip colours. Moving on to eyes. Guerlain Eyebrow Kit contains 4 long-lasting powders and a great little brush. It’s a foolproof kit that will suit everyone. You can use the pale shade under your brown to accentuate the arch. Use the palershade to  lighten your brows as an alternative to bleaching them to get this season’s bleached brow look. The packaging is to-die-for too. I’ve long been a fan of Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Gel Shadow Liners and now they’ve launched a super-charged version with sparkle. The Long-Wear Sparkle Shadow Liner in Thunderstorm is a gorgeous shimmery grey that will give eyes just the right amount of definition with a hint of a sheen. Top it off with Givenchy’s Noir Couture Volume Mascara in Black Taffetta. I can’t fault the packaging which has a slightly Fifities feel to it and the brush allows you to achieve masses of volume if you use it at a 45 degree tilt. Cargo is a brand that I’ve been keeping my eye on since it launched and I’m a big fan of their Picture Perfect Concealer HD £18.00 and Picture Perfect Pore Refining Primer HD, £19.00. The packaging is chic and the products really help to minimise pores, soften lines and generally flatter features – perfect for all  those Selfies you’ll be taking!( And for the icing on the cake, there’s nothing more vampy than perfectly painted pitch black nails. Add a top coat to give nails a high-shine. Chanel’s  is one of my favourites).
