10 MINUTE WINTER FACE

It’s winter, if you hadn’t noticed already! Along with shorter, darker days, skin has the additional challenge of dealing with extremes in temperature and less outdoor activity. This can mean a complexion that looks dull and less than radiant. Luckily, I’ve got a few surefire tricks and tips up my sleeve that will make you look like you’ve just stepped off the ski slope – fresh-faced with a bit of a glow – and all in under 10 minutes!

4 MINUTES: My first trick – and one I swear by myself – is daily facial massage. You don’t have to spend money on treatments or additional products if you massage your face for at least three minutes a day. If a model turns up on a shoot looking a bit puffy or jet-lagged, a few minutes of massage works wonders. Not only does it get rid of any fluid, but it gets the blood flowing and as a result, skin needs less make-up – and what is applied looks better and lasts longer. And the bonus: it costs nothing! Spend a few minutes massaging in your cleanser, moisturiser or night cream and you’ll see a big difference. Use your knuckles and the flats of your hands to massage upwards and outwards, then pinch along your jawline from your chin out to the sides to encourage lymphatic drainage. Tap around your eyes with the pads of your fingers to relieve puffiness too. I’m a fan of Emma Hardie Amazing Foaming Cleansing Wash, £34.

2 MINUTES: And then you can also cheat! I love Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Make-Up. Dot on where you need it and blend well with fingertips to melt it into the skin so it looks really natural.

1 MINUTE: A little bit of cheek colour is a fast way to give the impression that you’re well-rested. I’m a huge fan of Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge, which comes in umpteen skin enhancing shades.  Dot in on to the apples of your cheeks, blending upwards and outwards to create a healthy glow.

1 MINUTE:  Keep your eyes light and bright if you want to look fresh. Pick a single shade and apply all over the lids, blending up to the brows. I love Clarins Cream to Powder Ombre Matte Eyeshadows in Nude Beige or Nude Pink. Pick the right nude for your skin tone to liven things up.

1 minute: Finish with a balmy lip tint or crayon that will give comfort, hydration and a pop of colour to lips. Maybelline Baby Lips, come in a variety of natural tints and some brights if you want to inject a bit of brightness.
