I loved working with model Caroline Winberg on the recent Sky TV series, The Face and I’ve had so many requests on how to achieve my Caroline Winberg make up look. One of the model mentors, alongside Naomi Campbell and Erin O’Connor, she is not only great fun. She’s also gorgeous and very down-to-earth with it! What’s great about the look I created for her is one that can be worn by anyone, no matter what skin type, tone or age. It’s a healthy, fresh modern make up that can easily be tweaked to take it from day to night with a few quick additions.

Skin Prep

To recreate my Caroline Winberg look for The Face,  simply follow these steps. It’s an easy, suit-all look that you can adapt for day or night. I always start by prepping the skin and for Caroline, I used Aveda Exfoliant, £17.00, to cleanse and freshen. I followed this with Crème De La Mer Soft Cream, £100.00 (30ml), massaging it in to moisturise and provide a really good base for make-up. I also love Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream, £24.00, which seems to suit everyone. Massage also has the double benefit of stimulating blood flow and bringing a natural glow to skin. To keep Caroline’s complexion matte throughout the day, especially under hot film lights, I applied Benefit PoreFector, £37.99, on the T-zone. It also helps make-up to stay the day on areas that tend to be oil-prone. You could also try Clinique’s new Superprimer Face Primers, £20, that are formulated to address different skinconcerns, such as sallowness, redness or dullness, as well as prepping skin for make up application.

Long-lasting Base

For Caroline’s base, I used one of my all-time favourites – RMK Liquid Foundation, £21.24,in 104 and 105 (the darker shade when she had a bit of a tan). Chanel’s new Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Make–Up SPF 15, £34, which is a light fluid that gives coverage and luminosity. I love this foundation as it gives medium coverage and a natural finish that makes skin look fresh. I blended this with my favourite tool, the Beauty Blender Pro, £24. This allows perfect coverage by ensuring you can get into all the nooks and crannies, such as round the nose, eyes and chin. I set the make-up with a very light dusting of Shiseido Translucent Powder, £35, applied sparingly. Throughout filming, I blotted her skin with Kleenex Shine Absorbing Sheets Powder Free, £1.99, to keep her skin shine free. They literally are genius and absorb shine in seconds. I occasionally dusted her T-zone with Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder SPF 15 / PA+ £38, in No. 30 to keep her skin looking fresh all day long.

Blushed Cheeks

Caroline loves blush, so I picked a rosy pink blusher to give her cheeks a hint of colour. I started by sculpting her face with Burberry Earthy Blush 07 Light Glow, £29, to emphasis her cheekbones, applied with an angled brush by M.A.C. 138, £38. To add colour, I blended YSL Cream Blush, £29, in 2 over her cheeks, which also has a really velvety texture.

Defined Eyes and Brows

To define Caroline’s brows I used M.A.C. Brow Pencil in Fling, £13, for a natural look and Tom Ford Brow Sculptor in No3 Chestnut, £34.00, when I wanted a more  dramatic look. I used Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Heather Mauve, £17, with a hint of sheen on her lids and under her eyes to create a soft, Smokey look, as one of Caroline’s pet hates is having “cat-like” eyes! In the crease, I used Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Rich Brown £17,pressing in the colour and added a touch of shimmer in the inner corners and on her brow bone with Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Champagne, £17. To finish off, I added a few of Liz Martin’s Natural and Intense Individual Lashes, £3.99, on the outer corners and in the centre, after curling and applying a few coats of Max Factor Waterproof Masterpiece Mascara, £9.99.

Natural Lips

As Caroline is constantly chatting, eating and drinking throughout the day, she prefers to have a natural mouth, rather than full-on lipstick. I applied Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Fragrance Free, £25, throughout her hair and make-up prep to keep her lips soft and smooth. For a touch of colour, I applied NARS Velvet Lip Gloss Pencil in Cytere, £17.50, to her cupid’s bow on the top and middle ofher lower lip, and then Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm, £17, in Heaping Hazelnut 09, all over her lips, topped with Dior The Lip Maximizer, £22.50 in 003, with hyaluronic acid and marine-based fillers to plump lips.
